
Lucia is an original cast member of alight's debut work, Speechless, which premiered on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. She began studying dance in Quito, Ecuador at the age of nine. In 1995, she graduated from the National Institute of Dance with honors. Lucia has worked with the two largest dance companies in Ecuador – the Ballet Ecuatoriano de Camara and the Compañia Nacional de Danza del Ecuador (CND) – where she was also a rehearsal assistant until 2008. Lucia is the 1998 UNESCO Artist Scholarship recipient, which provided for her training at the Arts Institute of La Habana, Cuba. In 2001 and 2002, she won the "Best Female Dancer" award and the "Alas de la Danza Festival" in Quito. Lucia has performed throughout Ecuador and internationally in Mexico, Colombia, the United States, the Dominican Republic, Portugal and Spain. After relocating to the DC metro area last year, she was invited to join Deborah Riley Dance Projects and made her debut with the group in April 2010. She is currently performing with Dana Tai Burgess & Company.
